Microneedling 101
WRITTEN BY SARAH PAREDES, LICENSED AESTHETICIAN.
Let’s talk about microneedling; a treatment that sounds intense but is actually one of the best ways to get glowing, smooth, “wait… your skin looks amazing” skin.
If you’ve been curious about what microneedling actually is and whether it’s for you, here’s all the information in one place!
So, what is microneedling?
In short: it’s a skin treatment that uses tiny, super-fine needles to create micro-injuries in the skin. If that sounds spooky, I promise it’s not. These tiny punctures kick your skin’s natural healing process into high gear, boosting collagen and elastin by 400%, for smooth, firm, bouncy skin.
Who is it for?
Microneedling is safe year round, and can help patients with many skin concerns. Patients experiencing acne scars, fine lines & wrinkles, uneven texture or tone, enlarged pores, and general dullness - Microneedling can help address these concerns and much more! Basically, if you want your skin to look smoother, fresher, and more radiant, you’re likely a candidate!
What is the experience like?
Let’s break it down, because yes, there are needles involved, but it’s far less intense than it sounds.
At Injector Boutique we offer three types of Microneedling. Both use the SkinPen pen. The difference is in the glide, (what we use to glide the pen over your skin):
1. Our regular microneedling treatment uses SkinPen's serum.
2. PRP uses your very own PRP (platelet rich plasma). Microneedling with PRP involves a blood draw at the beginning of your appointment. We then spin the blood to filter out your plasma so we can microneedle with your very own DNA. (Enhanced results).
3. Ariessence PDGF is a safe, lab created product that is consistent, potent with growth factors and pure. Ariessence PDGF averages 1,000-300,000x more growth factors than the typical PRP client's blood. This is why Ariessence is the most elevated form of Microneedling we offer here at Injector Boutique.
After deciding which version of microneedling we are moving forward with, we cleanse your skin and apply a numbing cream. The numbing cream sits for at least 15 minutes, so this is your opportunity to relax, look at your phone, or chat with your provider.
Once you're numb, we use our pen-like device, SkinPen, with tiny needles that glide across your skin. It creates controlled micro-injuries, just enough to wake up your collagen production. Most people say it feels like a light buzzing or a weird tickle. Totally manageable.
Right after the microneedling, your skin is like a sponge so we apply nourishing FactorFive face mask, more of your PRP, or the leftover Ariessence, and let the ingredients sink in deep. Think hydration, glow, and healing support. If you do Microneedling with PRP, there is usually enough left over for you to take home and use as a sort of moisturizer for even more rejuvenation.
Afterward, you’ll be a little pink (think: fresh sunburn), but that will fade in 24-48 hours. Some people experience mild flaking, but more often than not, your skin is completely glowy after 24 hours.
What is the upkeep?
If you’re targeting a specific concern like acne scars, texture, or fine lines, your best results will come from a series of four treatments, spaced about a month apart.
Once you’ve completed the series, you and your provider can reassess: is it time to shift into maintenance mode (quarterly touch-ups), or do you need a few more sessions to reach your skin goals? Either way, you're well on your way to smoother, more radiant skin.
Microneedling sounds intense, but it’s honestly one of the most effective, safe, and customizable treatments out there. It plays well with all skin types, doesn’t require too much down time, and the results speak for themselves.
If you’re ready for smoother, brighter, firmer skin and want to keep things natural and collagen-fueled, microneedling might just be your skin’s new favorite thing.
