Stacked Treatments: Why I Love Pairing BBL + Moxi
WRITTEN BY SARAH PAREDS, MEDICAL AESTHETICIAN
If you’ve been in my treatment room for more than five minutes, you’ve probably heard me talk about BBL and Moxi. I love them individually, but together? They’re a power couple.
Stacking treatments simply means doing more than one modality in the same appointment to complement each other. When done intentionally, it allows us to target multiple layers and concerns at once with one healing window instead of two.
Let’s get specific.
BBL (Broadband Light)
BBL (Broadband Light) is my go-to for pigment and redness. It uses pulses of light energy to target brown spots, PIE, sun damage, broken capillaries, rosacea, and overall uneven tone.
It works by delivering light energy that is absorbed by pigment and vascular lesions. That energy converts to heat, which gently breaks down unwanted discoloration. Over time, your body clears it away, leaving you with clearer, more even looking skin.
While BBL is best known for targeting pigment and redness, it doesn’t stop there. The light energy also gently heats the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating collagen production and improving overall skin health at a cellular level. Studies have even shown that consistent BBL treatments can positively influence gene expression associated with youthful skin, essentially encouraging your skin to behave more like it did when it was younger. So yes, we’re clearing sun damage and discoloration, but we’re also strengthening, smoothing, and future-proofing your skin at the same time. Downtime is typically minimal. You might feel warm for a few hours and see darkened pigment that flakes off over several days. You may also experience some swelling. Typically, the more we focus on redness (especially rosacea), the more swelling you will experience.
Moxi
Moxi is a non-ablative fractional laser that targets early signs of aging, texture, and tone. It’s my favorite for prevention and maintenance or for anyone looking for a reset.
Where BBL corrects specific areas of pigment and boosts collagen, Moxi refines texture, picks up surface pigment, and stimulates collagen.
Moxi uses gentle laser energy to stimulate your skin and encourage it to renew itself. It doesn’t aggressively remove layers. It works by triggering your skin’s natural repair process, which boosts collagen, improves tone, and smooths texture over time. The result is brighter, more even skin that looks healthier and more refined.
Downtime is usually 1 to 3 days of redness and 5 to 8 days of a sandpaper like texture as your skin renews.
BBL + Moxi = Magic
When we stack BBL and Moxi in the same appointment, we’re addressing multiple layers of concern in one strategic session.
BBL treats pigment and vascular issues. Moxi stimulates collagen and refines the skin’s surface.
Instead of doing two separate appointments and healing twice, you go through one consolidated downtime period. Your redness and texture changes overlap, so you’re not stretching out your healing over multiple weeks.
There’s also a financial benefit to stacking. When we bundle BBL and Moxi together, the package pricing is more cost effective than booking each treatment separately. You’re getting more correction and more prevention in one visit without paying full price for two standalone sessions.
From a results perspective, I love stacking treatments because we’re improving tone and texture at the same time instead of chasing one concern after another. You’re seeing pigment lift, redness calm down, texture smooth out, and fine lines soften in one strategic plan, which means results show up faster and feel more cohesive. It also makes long term maintenance easier because we’re building on everything at once, not spacing it out over multiple appointments. It’s efficient, intentional, and perfect for anyone with sun damage, uneven tone, early signs of aging, redness paired with texture, or anyone who just wants to see a difference in their skin.
If you’re someone who likes efficiency, wants noticeable improvement, and appreciates maximizing both your time and investment, stacking is for you.
If you’re not sure whether you need one or both, that’s exactly what consultations are for. We’ll look at your skin, your goals, and your timeline, and decide whether a single treatment or a stacked session makes the most sense.
